As a Controller with YPTC, you will have the opportunity to work with nonprofit organizations, transforming their financial departments to help them meet their missions. This role requires a hands-on approach, where you will serve as the outsourced Controller/CFO for multiple clients. You will be responsible for financial reporting, recommending and implementing improvements to accounting operations, and managing transactional activities such as accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and month-end close. Additionally, you will engage in analysis and data visualization, budgeting, forecasting, grant management, and prepare for annual audits. Successful candidates will be personable and dedicated, comfortable working with multiple clients both virtually and on-site. You will interact regularly with clients, their staff, Board of Directors, and Finance Committees, ensuring that you provide transformative accounting services that align with their strategic goals. Responsibilities

  • Serve as the outsourced Controller/CFO for multiple non-profit clients.
  • Transform nonprofit client financial departments to help them meet their mission.
  • Prepare financial reporting for management and Board decision making and presentations.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to accounting, operations, internal controls, and compliance policies and procedures.
  • Manage transactional activities including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close.
  • Conduct analysis and data visualization, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Oversee grant management, allocations, and funder reporting.
  • Prepare for and manage annual audits.
  • Provide client and staff training opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in Accounting or Finance.
  • 5-7 plus years accounting experience.
  • Experience working in a remote environment preferred.
  • Ability to manage and lead multiple clients, work independently, and be responsive on a timely basis.
  • Demonstrated strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience with multiple GL packages, especially QuickBooks, and electronic bill pay systems.
  • Non-profit accounting, public accounting experience, and/or consulting experience is a plus but not required.
  • CPA certification is a plus.
  • Bilingual-English/Spanish a plus.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in nonprofit accounting or consulting is a plus.
  • Familiarity with various GL packages beyond QuickBooks.
