About the position

The Controller for a nonprofit organization in Boston will oversee the financial operations of a smaller yet impactful organization. This role involves both hands-on management and strategic oversight, working closely with the board and leadership team. Responsibilities

  • Oversight of operational accounting including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
  • Maintain the general ledger.
  • Recognize revenue accurately.
  • Prepare financial reports and provide analysis for the board and leadership team.
  • Ownership of the month-end close process.
  • Establish and maintain internal controls.
  • Manage the annual audit.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • 2+ years of management experience.
  • Experience within nonprofit organizations preferred.
  • MBA and/or CPA preferred.
