About the position

The Controller/HR Director at the Producers Guild of America is a dual role responsible for overseeing the Guild's accounting and financial matters while ensuring effective HR operations and compliance. This position serves as the primary liaison between the Guild and its professional employer organization (PEO), managing employee onboarding, policy compliance, and providing exceptional employee support. The role requires collaboration with the CEO and legal department to ensure adherence to laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting functions including accounts payable and receivables.
  • Ensure all financial transactions are properly entered, processed, approved, maintained, and reported.
  • Oversee quarterly and annual reporting packages.
  • Prepare annual budget and manage banking relationships.
  • Prepare periodic revenue and expense reports for special committees or projects.
  • Work with outside accounting firm for timely tax filings.
  • Maintain vendor contracts and records.
  • Manage job postings and end-to-end onboarding and offboarding processes.
  • Track and ensure completion of employee trainings and communications.
  • Administer employee benefits open enrollment process and respond to employee inquiries.
  • Attend annual employee performance reviews and maintain personnel files.
  • Handle HR-related matters such as leaves of absence and accommodations.
  • Work with PEO and legal department to ensure compliance with policies and laws.
  • Secure and maintain insurance coverage for the Guild and Foundation.
  • Implement updates to HR documents and support on HR-related matters.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Human Resources or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Controller/HR professional.
  • Experience working with a PEO is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of employment/HR laws and regulations across different states.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Superb analytical and business/financial skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and outstanding time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate when appropriate.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.
  • CPA, SHRM-CP, and/or PHR certification is preferred.
  • Experience with 501(c)(6)s, 501(c)(3)s and 990s is a plus.
