About the position

The Controller/HR Manager is responsible for overseeing all HR functions and ensuring the integrity and accuracy of accounting information for a company with 50 employees. This role involves financial analysis, preparation of financial statements, and collaboration with management to facilitate business decisions and improve financial performance.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, maintain, analyze, verify, and reconcile complex financial transactions, statements, records, and reports.
  • Prepare historical monthly and annual financial statements and reports.
  • Evaluate Balance Sheet and P&L activity to recommend opportunities for financial improvement.
  • Provide a forward-looking perspective on cash and earnings for business decisions.
  • Establish and maintain internal controls to protect company assets.
  • Act as a liaison to external bankers, insurance agents, CPAs, Payroll Provider, and other outside parties.
  • Evaluate major capital expenditures including equipment, building, and acquisitions.
  • Ensure full utilization of accounting and business ERP software to maximize financial efficiencies.
  • Collaborate with the President on the development of annual budgets and maintain budget reporting throughout the year.
  • Oversee recruiting and onboarding processes for all employees.
  • Process bi-weekly payroll for the company.
  • Investigate employee complaints and concerns in accordance with company policy and law.
  • Oversee quarterly and annual performance reviews process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or Accounting is required.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience.
  • 3+ years relevant accounting/finance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • CMA or CPA preferred.
  • Strong background in Cost Accounting in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with PLEX or SAP ERP Software is a plus.
