About the position

As the Controller with Ash Grove Packaging, a subsidiary of Oldcastle APG, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the financial health of the organization. This position requires you to collaborate with various levels of management to ensure accurate financial reporting and adherence to accounting practices. You will be responsible for managing bank relationships and supervising a team that includes employees in Accounting, Accounts Payable, and Cash/Bank Reconciliation. Your leadership will be crucial in establishing major corporate economic strategies, objectives, and policies that align with the company's goals. In this role, you will prepare comprehensive reports that summarize and forecast the company's business activities and financial position. You will direct the preparation of budgets, review budget proposals, and ensure that all necessary supporting documentation and justifications are in place. Additionally, you will enhance, implement, and enforce Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) policies and procedures to improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the corporation. Your expertise will also extend to fixed asset and capital expenditure (CAPEX) reporting, ensuring that all financial activities are accurately recorded and reported. Responsibilities

  • Direct all financial reporting and accounting practices within the organization.
  • Manage bank relationships and supervise the Accounting, Accounts Payable, and Cash/Bank Reconciliation teams.
  • Establish and recommend major corporate economic strategies, objectives, and policies.
  • Prepare reports to summarize and forecast company business activity and financial position.
  • Direct the preparation of budgets and review budget proposals with necessary supporting documentation.
  • Enhance, implement, and enforce SOX policies and procedures to improve operational effectiveness.
  • Oversee fixed asset and CAPEX reporting.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in general accounting/finance areas.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting with accounting certification or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in budgeting, financial forecasting, and financial statement preparation.
  • Knowledge of Accounting, Financial analysis, ERP, and Database User Interface and Query Software.
