About the position

The Controller position at Oldcastle Infrastructure is a strategic role that reports to the Regional Finance Director and has a dotted line to the General Manager. This role is designed to act as a business partner to drive financial and operational performance across the multi-site operations. The ideal candidate will be hands-on and will work closely with operational leadership to implement processes and procedures that enhance the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the organization. The Controller will oversee various accounting functions, including accounts payable support, customer billing, cost and revenue accounting, project accounting, payroll, and associated analysis and reporting. This position is critical in evaluating and improving accounting processes while ensuring compliance with organizational policies and applicable laws and regulations. In this role, the Controller will manage the day-to-day accounting functions and the team for the Torrent Operations, ensuring timely month-end close and fulfilling reporting requirements. The Controller will support the Assistant General Manager and other functional leaders in making informed business decisions, assist in mergers and acquisitions activities, and oversee capital expenditure (Capex) spending for the area. Additionally, the Controller will perform financial modeling, drive monthly forecasting, and lead the annual budgeting process. A key responsibility will be to improve the costing processes of operations, including cost estimating, bill of materials (BOMs), and inventory controls. The Controller will also implement and enforce financial controls in compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) and utilize financial and operational data to influence decisions and control costs effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing day to day accounting function and the team for the Torrent Operations.
  • Responsible for the timely Month End Close and fulfilling reporting requirements.
  • Support the AGM and other functional leaders with business decisions.
  • Support M&A activities and integrations.
  • Oversee the Capex spend for the Area and support capex process.
  • Perform financial Modeling, drive monthly forecasting and annual budgeting process.
  • Improve costing process of the operations (Cost Estimating, BOMs, Inventory Controls).
  • Implement and enforce financial controls in the operations compliance with SOX.
  • Use financial data, Operations data, and other information to influence decisions and control costs in our business operations.

Requirements

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, or Business Administration.
  • 5+ years of experience in a relevant field.
  • Prior Project Accounting and management experience required.
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial statement preparation.
  • Knowledge of SOX and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience with CapEx creation, submission, review, purchasing, and payback tracking.
  • Experience in manufacturing cost and variance analysis.
  • Experience in developing and implementing Financial Processes and controls.
  • Prior experience in ERP system implementation at an operating site is a plus.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced Degrees, CPA, CMA certifications are a plus.
  • Experience working in a business partner capacity.
