About the position

As the San Diego Plant Controller you will be responsible for ensuring all accounting and financial records are properly maintained and compliant with internal controls and external regulations. The activities include completing the monthly closings, preparing the site annual budget, and preparing financial forecasts, costing, and support to the process. You will manage a Cost Accountant and Payroll Administrator. The successful candidate will have the ability to react to business conditions and adjust priorities accordingly. You will have regular interaction with the Plant Manager and Production and act as an advisor. This is an on-site role 5 days a week with a great team of people in the plant and an awesome culture.

Responsibilities

  • Provide timely reporting of financial results along with analysis of performance variances and trends for both site and corporate.
  • Develop site budget in conjunction with strategic plan.
  • Maintain standard cost systems and manufacturing rates.
  • Support site efforts to meet cash management targets.
  • Prepare financial forecasts, budgets and costing on projects as required.
  • Complete the asset inventory reconciliation.
  • Support corporate financial requirements as needed for tax, audit, and financial closing and reporting.
  • Identify, evaluate, and implement information system technologies.
  • Bring continuous improvement discipline to control costs.
  • Involved with capital improvement projects with costing and analysis.
  • Implements and supports the environmental, health, and safety (EH&S) management system and the J.M. Huber Corporation EH&S Policy and Safety goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field; MBA or CPA, CMA desirable.
  • 7-10 years of work experience with a General Ledger, cost accounting, variance analysis, planning, and budgeting in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong accounting skills in all aspects of operational accounting including cost accounting and financial analysis.
  • Proficiency with finance and accounting application software; SAP and Power BI preferred.
  • Strong Excel and Access skills with the ability to analyze and tell a data story to leadership.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team cross functionally.
  • Management experience with good interpersonal skills and ability to present to leadership teams and influence.
