About the position

The Controller is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the organization, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, maintaining accurate financial records, and providing insights for strategic decision-making. This role involves managing the accounting team, overseeing payroll, preparing financial reports, and developing internal controls to safeguard the company's assets.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and support to all accounting operations including A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting and Revenue Recognition
  • Oversee semi-monthly payroll processing
  • Own the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, IFRS, or other relevant accounting standards
  • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement
  • Collaborate with department heads to develop annual budgets
  • Monitor budget performance and provide variance analysis with actionable recommendations
  • Prepare financial forecasts to support strategic planning
  • Design, implement, and monitor internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure the accuracy of financial records
  • Ensure compliance with local, state and federal government tax regulations, audits, and reporting requirements
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors, tax authorities, and other financial stakeholders
  • Research technical accounting issues for compliance
  • Manage and mentor the accounting and finance team
  • Establish performance goals, provide ongoing training, and conduct performance evaluations
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
  • Oversee cash management, including receivables, payables, and liquidity
  • Develop and maintain banking relationships to optimize financing options and investments
  • Collaborate with senior management to support business decisions with financial insights
  • Evaluate potential investments, acquisitions, and business opportunities
  • Drive financial efficiency and cost-saving initiatives across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master's preferred)
  • CPA or CMA is preferred
  • 10+ years in accounting or finance, with a track record of leadership roles
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting software and ERP systems
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial modeling tools.
