About the position

Our Client in the Jacksonville, Florida area is actively seeking an interim Controller for a 3-6 month assignment. This Financial Controller will be responsible for overseeing 4 direct reports and will play a crucial role in managing the financial operations of the company. The Controller will lead, manage, and mentor the Bellingham Accounting team, ensuring that all financial reporting is accurate and timely. This includes preparing monthly and quarterly financial reports, managing day-to-day banking administration, and overseeing payments, receipts, and reconciliations. In conjunction with the Tax Advisor and CFO, the Controller will manage the company's tax filing and payment requirements, ensuring compliance with all regulations. Additionally, the Controller will be responsible for planning and managing the company's audit processes, responding to audit requests, and ensuring that all financial records are in order. The role also involves posting monthly overhead allocations and work-in-progress (WIP) entries, as well as working closely with the staff accountant to maintain the balance sheet account reconciliation workbook, ensuring it accurately reflects monthly general ledger balances. This position requires a strong background in accounting and finance, particularly within the construction industry, and the ability to manage multiple entities on a global scale. The ideal candidate will have experience with Viewpoint software and a solid understanding of GAAP accounting principles.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage and mentor the Bellingham Accounting team
  • Responsible for financial reporting (e.g. Monthly/quarterly)
  • Manage day-to-day banking administration, payments, receipts, reconciliation, etc.
  • In conjunction with Tax Advisor and CFO, manage the company's tax filing and payment requirements

  • Post monthly overhead allocations and WIP entries
  • Work with staff accountant to ensure BS account reconciliation workbook is kept in order and reflects monthly g/l balances.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5+ years of experience
  • Construction experience
  • Multi-entity / global experience
  • Experience with Viewpoint software
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting principles
