About the position

The Controller will manage the company's accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems to maintain financial controls and guidelines for the company and its affiliates. This role is crucial in ensuring the integrity of financial reporting and compliance with regulatory standards. The Controller will perform data analysis, create financial reports, and provide comprehensive financial updates to senior management by evaluating, analyzing, and reporting appropriate data points. Additionally, the Controller will oversee the company's accounting and audit functions, ensuring that all financial activities align with the company's strategic goals. In this position, the Controller will oversee the monthly closing process and ensure the timely submission of information to management. This includes ensuring that balance sheet reconciliations are performed for all general ledger accounts and that proper reviews of these reconciliations are conducted. The Controller will also provide supplemental reporting for quarterly and annual reviews as requested, working directly with management to prepare monthly forecasts and annual budgets. Tracking and reporting on financial results against budget and forecast will be essential, as will helping management and corporate offices understand variations versus expectations. The Controller will determine the information needed by management to help reduce variances and improve profitability. This role will also involve providing analysis that aids in improving working capital management and preparing schedules and support documentation to assist with company audits. Furthermore, the Controller will work with personnel on physical inventory procedures and processes to ensure accurate physical inventory results. Understanding capital spending needs and including capital plans in forecasting and budgeting processes will also be part of the Controller's responsibilities.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • CPA/CMA is preferred
  • A minimum of 7 years of accounting experience is required
  • Experience working in a manufacturing operation is preferred
  • Strong understanding of economic and banking processes
  • Working knowledge of finance law and regulatory standards (GAAP)
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections
  • Professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule.
