About the position

The Controller at the Metropolitan Amateur Golf Association (MAGA) is responsible for managing the financial operations of both the Association and its philanthropic arm, the Metropolitan Golf Foundation. This part-time role involves maintaining day-to-day finances, processing billings, and handling accounts receivable and payable, while working closely with the Executive Director and the Executive Board.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the day-to-day finances of the Metropolitan Amateur Golf Association and Metropolitan Golf Foundation.
• Process the Association's billings to its member clubs for the GHIN Handicap Service.
• Handle all accounts receivable and accounts payable for the Association and Foundation, including the creation of all financial statements.

Requirements

• CPA preferred
• 5+ years of experience in financial accounting
• Solid computer literacy with the ability to learn new software and systems easily
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision; sound judgment and decision-making capabilities.

Nice-to-haves

• Proficient in QuickBooks
• Familiarity with credit card processing systems
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office products (Publisher, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Organized, with the ability to establish clear priorities.
