About the position

The Controller at Royal Custom Designs will play a pivotal role in driving the financial operations of the company. This position involves developing new processes, ensuring the accuracy of financial reports, and implementing financial strategies to support business goals. The Controller will work closely with the manufacturing operations to modernize and enhance financial management practices within a custom manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial information to management.
  • Provide insights and recommendations based on financial data to support strategic decision-making.
  • Develop and manage the annual budget and periodic forecasting processes.
  • Monitor financial performance against budget and forecast, identifying variances and recommending corrective actions.
  • Oversee the cost accounting function, including the analysis of production costs, inventory valuation, and cost of goods sold.
  • Implement and maintain effective cost control measures to optimize manufacturing efficiency and profitability.
  • Establish and enforce internal controls to ensure the integrity of financial data.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards, regulations, and company policies.
  • Coordinate and manage internal and external audits.
  • Monitor and manage cash flow, including forecasting and optimizing working capital.
  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions to ensure timely payments and collections.
  • Lead and develop the finance team, providing guidance, training, and performance management.
  • Collaborate with senior management to develop and implement financial strategies that align with business objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in accounting/finance, with at least 5 years in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems; experience with Made2Manage ERP is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.

Nice-to-haves

  • Spanish language proficiency is preferred.
