About the position

The Controller at House of Sillage will oversee the company's financial records and manage accounting personnel. This role is crucial for maintaining financial procedures and controls, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing strategic financial analysis to support decision-making. The position requires strong leadership skills and a focus on operational efficiency within the luxury consumer goods industry.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the preparation and consolidation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
  • Manage the budgeting process, including forecasting and variance analysis.
  • Develop and maintain internal control policies and procedures to ensure accuracy and reliability of financial information.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors, and assess any changes necessary.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals.
  • Collaborate on tasks and projects, ensuring efficient use of resources.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback to team members.
  • Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.
  • Participate in long-term financial planning and strategy sessions with senior management.
  • Evaluate and advise on the financial impact of new business ventures and growth opportunities.
  • Oversee accounting operations including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, general ledger, and financial analysis.
  • Implement and maintain accounting software systems to streamline operations.
  • Continuously improve accounting processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Monitor and manage cash flow to ensure liquidity and financial stability.
  • Oversee the preparation of cash flow forecasts and report variances to management.
  • Identify and mitigate financial risks.
  • Ensure appropriate insurance coverage is maintained and evaluate risk management strategies.
  • Contribute to process improvements and system upgrades for enhanced efficiency.

Requirements

  • MBA or advanced degree in Finance or Accounting required.
  • CPA Certification preferred.
  • Minimum 5+ years of full cycle accounting experience required.
  • Over 3 years of supervisory/managerial experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of QuickBooks Enterprise, Sage, and advanced Excel skills required.
  • Previous experience in cosmetics and luxury consumer goods is essential.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with TriNet is a plus.
  • Ability to implement innovative solutions and adapt to changing financial landscapes.
