About The Position

The Controller at Washington County Mental Health Services (WCMHS) is responsible for overseeing the agency's accounting functions, ensuring compliance and efficiency in financial operations. This role involves collaboration with leadership and external partners to support the agency's mission of providing mental health services. The Controller will manage the full scope of accounting tasks, including financial statement analysis, budget development, internal audits, and grants administration, while also leading the accounting team’s professional development.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field with extensive accounting training.
• 5 or more years of relevant experience, preferably in nonprofit accounting.
• Supervisory experience.
• Expert knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
• Strong computer skills and proficiency in accounting software (Sage Intacct preferred) and payroll software (Paycom preferred).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external partners.
• Commitment to advancing the WCMHS mission.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the accounting functions of the agency.
• Review and analyze financial statements.
• Maintain financial records and participate in budget development.
• Perform internal audits and manage the annual audit process.
• Oversee all aspects of financial grants and contracts administration, including tracking and reporting.
• Lead, supervise, and guide the professional development of the accounting team.
