About the position

As a Controller at Vaco, you will serve as a financial expert responsible for overseeing a variety of accounting functions that range from general to complex. This role is pivotal in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting and will involve providing analytical support to the business unit. You will be tasked with managing the accounting and financial reporting processes, establishing and coordinating all accounting procedures, and investigating significant trends and variances in financial data. Your expertise will be essential in handling accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), payroll, tax functions, as well as cost and inventory accounting. In addition to these responsibilities, you will provide daily and/or weekly analysis and reporting on operational performance as it relates to business activities. This includes monitoring margins, variances, and providing feedback to enhance financial performance. You will also assist in the formulation of the budget and prepare monthly budget variance analyses, ensuring that the financial health of the organization is maintained and improved upon. Your role will require you to supervise staff, ensuring that all accounting functions are performed efficiently and accurately, contributing to the overall success of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Managing accounting and financial reporting
  • Establishing and coordinating all accounting procedures for the business unit
  • Investigating significant trends/variances in financial data
  • Handling AP, AR, Payroll, Tax functions as well as Cost and Inventory Accounting
  • Providing daily and/or weekly analysis, and reporting on operational performance as it relates to the business activities including monitoring margins, variances, and giving feedback
  • Assisting in the formulation of the budget and preparing the monthly budget variance analyses

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Controller or similar role
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
  • Experience with AP, AR, Payroll, and Tax functions
  • Ability to analyze financial data and trends
  • Excellent leadership and supervisory skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Nice-to-haves

  • CPA certification
  • Experience with budgeting and forecasting
  • Familiarity with financial software and ERP systems
