About the position

Our client is seeking a full-time on-site Controller to join their team at their shop located in Anamosa, IA. The Controller will oversee all aspects of the company's financial operations, which include financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis. This role is crucial for ensuring the financial health of the organization and requires a strong leader who can manage the accounting team effectively. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with technology and will assist in the continuous improvement and implementation of inventory and barcoding systems. In this position, the Controller will be responsible for managing the accounting team and ensuring that all financial transactions are accurate and timely. This includes overseeing the preparation of financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP principles, and providing insights into financial performance to support strategic decision-making. The Controller will also play a key role in developing and implementing financial policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness. The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Experience in the manufacturing industry is a plus, as it will provide valuable context for the financial operations of the company.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of the company's financial operations including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis.
  • Manage the accounting team to ensure accurate and timely financial transactions.
  • Assist in the continuous improvement and implementation of inventory and barcoding systems.
  • Prepare financial statements and ensure compliance with GAAP principles.
  • Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Provide insights into financial performance to support strategic decision-making.

Requirements

  • CPA or CMA certification preferred but not required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including experience as a Controller or in a similar position.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP principles and financial regulations.
  • Experience managing accounting teams and leading financial operations.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience working with accounting software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
