The Controller at ESJ Capital Partners, LLC is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing the financial reporting, tax, and financial functions of the organization. This position reports directly to the CFO and plays a crucial part in maintaining financial controls and ensuring the integrity of financial data. The Controller will supervise the monthly and quarterly close processes, ensuring timely issuance of audited financial statements, and will be involved in the annual preparation of budgets. Additionally, the role includes assisting in the preparation of quarterly tax projections and annual tax return preparation, as well as managing all treasury functions. In this role, the Controller will assist the CFO with the oversight and management of the centralized accounting department. Responsibilities include preparing consolidated financial statements, including cash flow statements for audited financials, and coordinating external audits while addressing auditor inquiries to ensure compliance with audit and financial reporting standards. The Controller will also oversee federal and state tax compliance, reporting, and planning, collaborating closely with tax preparers to ensure all tax obligations are met. The position requires active participation in the review of the monthly and quarterly close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting. The Controller will prepare quarterly external financial reports for investors and assist in the review of quarterly distributions. Analyzing financial information to identify industry trends and providing insights to support decision-making processes is also a key responsibility. The Controller will establish and implement departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures, while monitoring and maintaining strong internal controls to safeguard company assets. Furthermore, the Controller will oversee the general ledger, fixed assets, collections, accounts payable, and accounts receivable. This role requires interpreting and abstracting loan, lease, and partnership agreements, responding to investor inquiries, and managing all treasury functions. The Controller will also supervise debt compliance and lender reporting, and assist with properties' due diligence, acquisitions, refinances, and sales, including reviewing closing statements and documents. Identifying and researching tax issues will also be part of the responsibilities.
