About the position

The Controller will plan and direct the accounting operations of the company, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and overseeing the accounting department's functions. This role involves managing financial reporting, budgeting, and audits while providing financial analysis to support management decisions.

Responsibilities

• Oversees the operations of the Accounting Department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and payroll.
• Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.
• Oversees the monthly closing of accounting periods.
• Ensures periodic financial reports are prepared timely as required by management; ensures compliance with GAAP or IFRS.
• Recommends benchmarks to measure the company's performance.
• Produces the annual budget and forecasts; reports significant budget differences to management.
• Provides financial analysis as required by management.
• Works with external auditors and provides needed information for the annual audit.
• Provides required information to tax return preparers and reviews completed returns for propriety.
• Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration required.
• Ten years or more of related experience is required.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation desirable.
• Proficient in QuickBooks accounting software.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent management and supervisory skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
