About the position

The Controller at Sunscape Landscaping will be a key player in shaping the financial future of the company, driving strategy, innovation, and growth. This role involves managing all financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, and collaborating across teams to establish best practices. The Controller will also act as a strategic partner to the CEO, providing insights and recommendations to support decision-making and operational efficiencies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and hold accountable direct reports.
  • Collaborate across teams to establish financial best practices and streamline operations.
  • Manage all financial operations including billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, inventory, and equipment.
  • Ensure accurate and timely monthly financial reporting internally and externally, including financial write-ups for the Board of Directors.
  • Oversee monthly closings, forecasting, budgeting, and analyzing financial metrics that support decision-making at both tactical and strategic levels.
  • Set revenue targets, manage cash flow, and analyze spending on major service lines.
  • Set the company's pricing strategy.
  • Manage banking, insurance, and technology.
  • Become an expert in Aspire, the premier commercial landscaping software.
  • Manage the accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of all data in Aspire.
  • Think proactively 6-24 months out, develop options, recommend solutions, and communicate them to the CEO.

Requirements

  • Valid CPA license or equivalent qualification.
  • Master's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of work experience with 3 to 5 years of high-level accounting experience.
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP with the ability to research and implement new technical standards.
  • Advanced computer skills with high proficiency in Microsoft Office, dashboarding, and data analytics tools.
  • Experience in the development and management of key metrics for management and Board reporting.
  • Experience with Big 4 or medium-size accounting firms.
  • Experience working with investor-backed businesses.
  • Proven experience driving operational efficiencies and implementing systems and processes.

Nice-to-haves

  • MBA or similar qualification.
  • Experience in a commercial landscape maintenance provider.
