About the position

The Controller position is a hands-on leadership role that emphasizes the importance of both coaching the team and ensuring the completion of work. The successful candidate will facilitate the automation of manual processes, set clear expectations, and hold the team accountable for producing accurate and timely work while providing exceptional internal service. This role involves the accurate preparation and review of financial statements, acting as a reporting partner to the CFO, and providing critical financial information to leadership and the board to support data-driven decision-making. In addition to financial reporting, the Controller will work closely with broader Finance and Accounting (F&A) concepts to share successes, enhance the function, deliver high-quality results, and provide exceptional internal client service. Leading by example, the Controller will exhibit core values and coach teammates to do the same, driving towards the expectations of the board and improving outcomes on a quarterly and monthly basis. The role includes streamlining and overseeing the month-end close process to significantly reduce the time required to close. The Controller will establish and maintain shared services concepts with a precise implementation using integration best practices. Responsibilities also include reviewing, modifying, and overseeing accounts payable (A/P) and accounts receivable (A/R) functions, supporting the CFO with sales compensation commission adjustments through analytics and timely reporting, overseeing reconciliations, and directing adjustments to health, dental, and life policies. The Controller will lead audits and compliance projects, participate in the interviewing, selecting, and training of new accounting staff, and perform managerial tasks regularly while completing ad hoc projects as necessary.
