About the position

Niyam IT is seeking a Controller to join their team, responsible for maintaining financial records, processing payroll, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. This role emphasizes analytical skills and the ability to streamline financial processes while supporting a diverse and inclusive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain schedule and utilization of PTO and company observed holidays
  • Track, analyze, and reconcile timesheets
  • Process and pay vendor and contractor invoices
  • Process employee payroll
  • Assist with general ledger activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and maintaining accurate financial records in Deltek
  • Provide bank account reconciliation
  • Provide credit card and expense processing
  • Prepare financial and analytical reports and identify opportunities for cost optimization and process improvements to enhance profitability
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, utilizing Deltek software
  • Maintain and edit existing policies and procedures
  • Assist in the month-end closing procedures, reconciling accounts, reviewing journal entries, and ensuring compliance with GAAP standards
  • Assist with internal and external audits, as well as compliance reviews by regulatory agencies, providing documentation and support as needed to demonstrate compliance with payroll laws and regulations
  • Identify opportunities to streamline payroll processes, enhance system efficiency, and improve internal controls to ensure accuracy and compliance in multi-state payroll processing

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance required
  • Five (5) to Eight (8) years of experience in financial accounting
  • Experience obtaining tax identification numbers (TINs) for new states and registering with state tax agencies
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
  • Intermediate to Advanced level (minimum 3-5 years) working with Deltek Costpoint system

Nice-to-haves

  • Quickbooks experience
  • Multi-state payroll processing experience
  • Intermediate to Expert Level Microsoft Excel Skills
  • Five (5) to Eight (8) years of experience in government contracting
