About the position

This position is responsible for ensuring that systems and procedures are in place to provide accurate and timely financial information which meets all management needs in compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements for non-profits. The Controller works closely with program leadership and provides support to ensure REACH's finance functions fully support operations.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements
  • Supervises accounting technician position
  • Oversee the financial operations of the company, including financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting
  • Oversees accounts receivable collection
  • Ensure compliance with accounting principles and standards
  • Manage the general ledger accounting and balance sheet reconciliation processes
  • Perform account reconciliations and review financial transactions for accuracy
  • Provide financial analysis and insights to support decision-making processes
  • Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulations
  • Coordinate and manage the annual audit process
  • Prepare regulatory reports and filings as required
  • Manages periodic Medicaid cost reports and cost surveys
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Controller or similar role
  • Proficiency in debits and credits, general ledger accounting, and account reconciliation
  • Strong excel skills
  • Ability to use a variety of accounting software applications
  • Strong organization, documentation, and time management skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Detail oriented with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Effective problem-solving skills
  • Minimum Education/Certification: Bachelor's degree in accounting or closely related field
  • Experience: Five (5) years of experience in supervising accounting functions in a non-profit organization, foundation, private business and/or governmental agency with progressive responsibility in financial management.
  • Substitution: Ten (10) years of experience in a financial management position in a nonprofit organization, foundation, private business and/or governmental agency may be considered in lieu of a degree.
