The Controller position at Crownstone Equipment is a critical role that reports directly to the CFO. This position is integral to the management and day-to-day accounting and reporting functions of the construction equipment dealership business unit. The Controller is responsible for overseeing cash management, depository, and treasury functions while actively engaging in the daily operations of the business. This includes being the primary contact for financial transactions across various departments, including equipment sales, parts, rentals, and service. In this role, the Controller ensures accurate data entry and reporting for all accounting functions within the company. This encompasses revenue and accounts receivable management, where the Controller collaborates with the accounts receivable staff to monitor the proper entry of departmental transactions, oversee payment applications, and manage customer communications regarding overdue payments. Additionally, the Controller is responsible for expenses and accounts payable, ensuring accurate data entry of incoming invoices and timely payments of outstanding amounts due. The Controller also plays a vital role in inventory management and floor plan debt tracking, working closely with the Asset Manager to monitor inventory movement and handle floor plan payments. Furthermore, the position involves maintaining accurate records of fixed assets and related indebtedness, as well as managing cash balances and intercompany balances. The Controller prepares and distributes GAAP-compliant financial statements in a timely manner and develops expertise in the company's Dealer Management System (DMS), CDK Global. The role requires establishing and enforcing transactional policies and procedures to maximize the accuracy of the company's financial records. The Controller is also responsible for monitoring compliance through audits and coordinating with leadership to achieve operational and financial goals. This position requires strong leadership skills, as the Controller will manage and develop the financial staff through coaching and performance appraisals.
