About the position

The Controller position at Hydro Engineering is a full-time role that involves overseeing the accounting department and ensuring the integrity of financial reporting. The successful candidate will maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures, manage outsourced functions, and oversee the operations of the accounting department. This includes designing an organizational structure that meets the department's goals and objectives. The Controller will also assist with the implementation, setup, and monitoring of accounting software and company computer systems, ensuring that all required debt payments are made on time and maintaining an orderly accounting filing system. In addition to these responsibilities, the Controller will maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions, manage cash flow and borrowing capacities, and oversee monthly controls and inventory validation. The role requires issuing timely and complete financial statements, coordinating the preparation of the corporate annual report, and recommending benchmarks to measure the performance of company operations. The Controller will also calculate and issue financial and operating metrics, manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts, and report significant variances from the budget to management. Furthermore, the Controller will provide management with monthly rolling budget reports and updates, ensuring compliance with bank reporting requirements and local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings. This position is crucial for providing financial analyses for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations, as well as for providing management with business segment/divisional reporting.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • CPA license required
  • MBA preferred
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or finance
