About the position

We are in the process of recruiting a Controller for our client located in Stuart, Florida. The focus of the role will be on various aspects of accounting, including inventory and transactional accounting, auditing, and management of a team. The position requires the application of skills such as analyzing and preparing financial statements, budgeting, and forecasting. The Controller will play a critical role in overseeing the accounting functions, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and providing strategic insights to support the company's financial goals. In this role, you will oversee the accounting functions including Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR). You will manage inventory accounting and ensure accurate tracking and reporting. Additionally, you will oversee the percentage of completion for ongoing projects and transactions, handle merger and acquisition transactions, and ensure smooth transitions. Your public accounting audit experience will be essential in ensuring financial compliance, while managing transactional accounting operations to maintain financial efficiency. You will utilize Sage Intacct software for various accounting tasks and take charge of the financial statement preparation and consolidation, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Analyzing financial statements to provide valuable insights for decision-making will be a key responsibility, along with overseeing the month-end close process to ensure all deadlines are met. As a leader, you will manage a team of 9, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment, and engage in budget processes, including budgeting and forecasting to achieve financial goals.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Prior experience of 5 years or more as a Controller or in a similar role.
  • Proficiency in Accounting Functions.
  • Proven experience with Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR).
  • Skilled in Auditing procedures.
  • Familiarity with Budget Processes.
  • Ability to manage Month End Close procedures.
  • Knowledge of Inventory Accounting.
  • Understanding of percentage (%) of completion accounting method.
  • Ability to Analyze Financial Statements.
  • Proficiency in Financial Statement Preparation.
  • Experience with Financial Statements Consolidation.
  • Skilled in Budgeting and Forecasting.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant field is required.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification is preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations as they relate to accounting and finance.
