About the position

As the Controller at Vessel Technologies, you will oversee the financial operations that support the company's mission to reinvent multifamily housing. This role is crucial for ensuring financial excellence and accountability across the organization, directly impacting strategic growth and operational efficiency. You will collaborate closely with finance and operations teams and play a key role in financial reporting, budgeting, compliance, and the implementation of financial systems.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
  • Prepare timely and accurate financial reports, such as balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and budget variances.
  • Lead the development and management of Vessel's annual budget and forecasts, providing financial analysis to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and internal controls, implementing policies and procedures as needed.
  • Manage audits and collaborate with external auditors and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance.
  • Oversee treasury functions, including cash flow management, banking relationships, and investment strategies.
  • Drive the implementation of financial systems, tools, and processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations and product development, to support business growth and innovation.
  • Provide strategic financial recommendations to senior management based on analysis and projections.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification required.
  • 8-10 years of experience in accounting and finance, with at least 3 years in a Controller or similar leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and experience with financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls.
  • Experience in real estate, construction, or a product-focused company preferred.
  • Startup experience is a plus, with the ability to adapt to a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Proficiency in financial software and tools; experience with ERP systems is a bonus.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic setting.
