About the position

The Fractional Controller at GURU Pet Company will play a crucial role in managing the company's financial operations, ensuring accurate bookkeeping, overseeing accounts receivable and payable, and maintaining compliance with payroll and tax regulations. This part-time, contract position is designed for a strategic and detail-oriented individual who can help guide the company through its growth phase by establishing robust accounting processes and analytics.

Responsibilities

• Maintain precise financial records through effective bookkeeping.
• Manage the invoicing process and collection of payments for accounts receivable.
• Oversee the processing of bills and invoices for accounts payable, ensuring timely payments.
• Ensure compliance with payroll regulations and oversee payroll processing.
• Manage sales tax payments and compliance, ensuring accurate submissions.
• Analyze cost structures to identify areas for improvement in cost accounting.
• Develop and monitor budgets, providing insights for financial planning and forecasting.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and reports for management review.
• Oversee and ensure timely and accurate business and personal income tax filings.
• Manage SPS Commerce or other EDI systems for order processing and invoicing.
• Handle purchase order entry and monitor PO tracking, managing discrepancies with suppliers.
• Assist in evaluating and managing inventory, exploring new systems for efficiency.
• Ensure accurate entry of all products into the system with correct cost allocations.
• Validate customer pricing and manage customer payment terms for clarity and compliance.
• Confirm the accuracy of invoices before payment and track sales commission payments.

Requirements

• 5 years of experience in accounts payable and receivable.
• 5 years of experience with QuickBooks.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
• Experience as a CFO or Controller.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Consumer package goods experience strongly preferred.

• Experience with ERP systems.
