About the position

As a Controller, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing all technical and operational accounting functions within the organization. Reporting directly to the Chief Accounting Officer, you will be responsible for establishing and maintaining the organization's accounting principles, practices, and procedures, ensuring compliance with governmental, financial, and tax regulations, and adhering to US GAAP and IFRS accounting standards. Your collaboration with internal auditors and management of external audits will be crucial in maintaining the integrity of our financial reporting. In this role, you will manage and supervise the accounting function, including personnel and resources, while overseeing global accounting functions for multiple legal entities and currencies. You will ensure compliance with US GAAP, IFRS, and other local accounting standards, and maintain and enhance internal control effectiveness. Your expertise will be essential in developing and continually improving accounting processes and systems to ensure the accuracy, timeliness, and effectiveness of financial information. Additionally, you will manage financial compliance activities, including the annual audit process and quarterly auditor reviews, and participate in identifying, developing, and implementing solutions to improve data accuracy, streamline processes, and enhance productivity. Fostering a collaborative and inclusive team environment is key, and you will lead special projects as needed to drive improvement initiatives within the finance organization, including the current ERP upgrade to SAP S4. This is a full-time position with moderate business travel of approximately 10-20% of the time required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, supervise, and support the accounting function, including personnel and resources.
  • Oversee global accounting functions for multiple legal entities and currencies.
  • Ensure compliance with US GAAP, IFRS, and other local accounting standards.
  • Establish and maintain the organization's accounting principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Maintain and enhance internal control effectiveness.
  • Develop and continually improve accounting processes and systems to ensure the accuracy, timeliness, and effectiveness of financial information.
  • Manage certain financial compliance activities, including the annual audit process and quarterly auditor reviews.
  • Participate in identifying, developing, and implementing solutions to improve data accuracy, streamline processes, and improve productivity.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment.
  • Lead special projects as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in accounting.
  • Active CPA license or similar designation.
  • 15+ years' experience in a mix of public accounting and publicly traded industry.
  • 5+ years of financial management experience.
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and IFRS accounting standards.
  • Demonstrated experience in major ERP system implementations, conversions, and upgrades.
  • Demonstrated experience with managing corporate and/or operational accounting, including experience with revenue and cost accounting.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in desktop applications and integrated business systems.
