About the position

NOW CFO is seeking an operational, hands-on Controller to join our consulting team in the Portland area. This role is critical in overseeing clients' financial and accounting functions, ensuring compliance with accounting regulations, and driving financial performance. The Controller will operate in a dynamic consulting environment, requiring in-depth knowledge of GAAP and strong leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and coordinate all financial and accounting activities for clients.
• Manage accounting operations including Billing, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, and Revenue Recognition.
• Implement and maintain accounting controls and budgets to mitigate risk and maximize returns on investments.
• Support the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Conduct internal audits to assess financial health and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
• Serve as the primary contact for external auditors and manage the audit process.
• Standardize and maintain accounting records and processes, adapting as needed for each client's unique needs.
• Provide insights and recommendations for process improvements and financial strategies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (MBA preferred).
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting management or a related field.
• Proficiency with NetSuite or similar ERP systems.
• Thorough knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities, with a hands-on approach to management.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and clients effectively in a consulting environment.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines.

Nice-to-haves

• CPA certification is preferred but not required.
• Experience in Manufacturing and Healthcare industries is highly preferred.
