About the position
The Controller is responsible for leading the financial and reporting functions of AgCredit ACA, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures while focusing on risk management and financial performance. This role involves supervising the Accounting and Reporting team, preparing budgets, and enhancing the Association's performance through effective financial management and operational controls.
Responsibilities
- Assist the CFO in operational and financial risk and performance management.
- Maintain safety and soundness while contributing to key result ratios and business objectives.
- Review periodic financial transactions, reports, and variance analysis.
- Assist in preparing the annual budget and conducting periodic stress testing.
- Supervise and develop the Accounting and Reporting team to ensure accuracy and quality service.
- Maintain accurate general ledger information and manage various accounting functions.
- Prepare quarterly and annual stockholder financial reports and manage tax allocations and returns.
- Coordinate materials for various committees, including Operations and Risk Management.
- Develop and implement operational procedures and controls with the CFO.
- Manage operational and administrative projects related to data analysis and reporting.
- Identify opportunities to save time or resources while balancing effectiveness.
- Model the Association's Core Values and support strategic initiatives.
Requirements
- Proven experience in financial management and reporting functions.
- Strong understanding of risk management principles.
- Experience in budget preparation and financial analysis.
- Ability to lead and develop a team effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in the agricultural finance sector.
- Familiarity with FCA Call reporting and IRS informational returns.
- Knowledge of internal controls over financial reporting.
