About the position

The Controller position is responsible for providing accurate and timely financial data to the General Manager, Department Heads, and Corporate office, enhancing management effectiveness across departments in a hotel setting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hotel financial management, exceptional attention to detail, and proven leadership skills.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly financial statement package in accordance with GAAP
  • Prepare monthly account reconciliations
  • Facilitate and prepare annual financial plan with General Manager and other department heads
  • Supervise, hire and train accounting and night audit staff
  • Approve direct bill applications
  • Facilitate monthly credit meetings with sales and accounting staff
  • Ensure all internal controls are being followed per Corporate office guidelines
  • Assist in monthly inventory with food & beverage department
  • Coordinate monthly surprise bank audits throughout hotel
  • Review and approve bi-weekly payroll with Director of Human Resources
  • Monitor and audit transactions in property management and point of sale systems
  • Verify bank deposit to ensure validated amount matches reported amount on the Daily Managers Report
  • File monthly taxes to the city, county and state as required
  • Prepare & submit annual licenses as they expire
  • Review payroll and revenue reports daily
  • Approve and assign purchase order numbers
  • Prepare monthly workbooks for declining balances, daily revenue and labor reports
  • Maintain contract and lease files
  • Prepare year-end files for Corporate review and tax preparation
  • Prepare credit applications for new vendors
  • Manager on Duty shifts as assigned
  • Special projects as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year College or University or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Three to five years related experience and/or training
  • Valid CPA license
  • Valid Certified Management Accountant certification
  • Experience in PeopleSoft
