About the position

The Controller at Iron Force Constructors, Inc. (IFC) is responsible for overseeing all accounting and office functions within the company. This role is crucial for ensuring the financial health of the organization, managing day-to-day accounting tasks, and supporting the overall operational efficiency of the business. The position is home-based but requires the candidate to reside in the Phoenix area, emphasizing the importance of local presence for effective collaboration and communication.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for day-to-day accounting functions, preparing financial reports and analyzing financial data.
  • Entering and submitting weekly payroll for processing via a third party provider.
  • Support and onboard new employees including completion of E-Verify and input into third party payroll system.
  • Perform full cycle accounting and job costings including monthly invoice creation, processing invoices, requisitions, purchase orders, accruals and other transactions.
  • Manage accounts payable/receivable and bank statement and credit card reconciliations.
  • Monitor and manage cash flow; perform transfers between bank accounts to accommodate cash requirements.
  • Monthly calculation and submission of workers compensation and transactional privilege tax.
  • Prepare documents for annual audits of workers compensation and general liability; oversee and coordinate third party annual audit.
  • Capture construction job accounting and project management including the completion of pre-liens, certificates of insurance and other documents as required.
  • Prepare financial reports, such as balance sheets, income statements, and other documents as required.
  • Complete year end books and submit to accountant for income tax preparation.
  • Co-ordinate contract approval. Facilitate review of project contract for scope in contract and review other key terms of the contract before sending it to President for approval.
  • Prepare job descriptions, postings and oversee recruitment for company.
  • Manage and update website.
  • Other duties as required.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of account experience in construction accounting
  • Familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and account software programs, specifically Quickbooks Online
