About the position

As the Plant Controller at MacLean-Fogg, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the daily accounting functions at our manufacturing plant. This includes managing cost and general accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and fixed assets. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring that our financial operations are conducted smoothly and in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and corporate policies. You will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing organizational accounting and financial policies, ensuring that they align with both GAAP and corporate standards. In this role, you will oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close processes, leading all aspects of the plant's financial reporting. This includes preparing and presenting monthly financial reports to the corporate executive team. You will partner with management and other departments to develop organizational budgets, financial forecasts, and long-range plans, establishing internal controls to monitor assets, capital investments, and costs. Your responsibilities will also include managing the accounts payable, accounts receivable, general accounting, and fixed asset processes for the plant. You will monitor the financial status of the organization, interpreting asset ratios, break-even analysis reports, profit margins, operating costs, and other metrics that measure fiscal stability. Communication with various departments, including operations, sales/marketing, HR, and IT, will be crucial for budget approvals and ROI assessments for specific projects. Additionally, you will administer departmental policies and procedures, evaluate performance results, and assist in developing new or modified budgets and strategic plans. You will conduct internal audits of policies and procedures to preserve the division's assets and assist internal and external auditors with periodic audits of the plant's financial records. As a business partner with the plant leadership team, you will ensure that all necessary documents are completed accurately and adhere to 5S standards, while also following all safety, environmental, and quality policies and procedures. This position requires a proactive approach to perform other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the plant's financial operations.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and enhance organizational accounting and financial policies, ensuring compliance with GAAP and corporate policies.
  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close processes.
  • Lead all aspects of the plant's financial reporting, including monthly presentations to the corporate executive team.
  • Partner with management and other functions to develop organizational budgets, financial forecasts, and long-range plans.
  • Establish internal controls for monitoring assets, capital investments, controlling costs, and measuring liquidity.
  • Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, general accounting, and fixed asset processes for the plant.
  • Monitor the financial status of the organization; interpret asset ratios, break-even analysis reports, profit margins, operating costs, and other metrics used in measuring fiscal stability.
  • Communicate with operations, sales/marketing, HR, IT, and other departments on matters of budget approval and ROI for specific projects.
  • Administer departmental policies and procedures, evaluate results and performance, and assist with the development of new or modified budgets, strategic plans, or policies.
  • Assist in ad hoc analyses of the division's finances and prepare reports to facilitate decision making.
  • Administer internal controls and audits of policies and procedures meant to preserve the division's assets.
  • Assist internal and/or external auditors with periodic auditing of the plant's financial records, statements, and processes.
  • Act as a business partner with the plant leadership team.
  • Complete all necessary documents fully and accurately.
  • Adhere to 5S standards (e.g., maintain cleanliness of the work area, etc.).
  • Follow all Safety, Environmental, and Quality policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Typically require a bachelor's degree and at least 8 years of experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment, including some prior management experience.
  • In-depth understanding of the field's concepts and principles.
  • Ability to perform complex tasks with some latitude for determining appropriate processes to follow.
