About the position

Chris Preble from Robert Half is working with a Utica area client of his that is looking to hire a Plant Controller. This is an exciting role with a growing company. The organization is looking for a strategic partner to the organization as the Controller will be a key leader in the financial management of the manufacturing plant. This includes budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, variance analysis, cost accounting, and compliance with financial regulations. The Plant Controller is a key leadership position responsible for the financial management and oversight of our manufacturing plant. This role includes budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, variance analysis, cost accounting, and compliance with financial regulations. The Plant Controller will work closely with plant management to drive financial performance, optimize costs, and support strategic decision-making. Key Responsibilities include preparing and analyzing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports, conducting variance analysis, and providing insights on financial performance. The Controller will lead the annual budgeting process for the plant, develop and update financial forecasts, and monitor budget compliance while addressing variances. They will oversee cost accounting activities, including standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory valuation, ensuring accurate product costing and profitability analysis. The role also involves ensuring compliance with internal financial policies and external regulatory requirements, maintaining and improving internal controls over financial reporting, and coordinating internal and external audits. Additionally, the Plant Controller will provide financial analysis and insights to support plant management in strategic decision-making, participate in capital expenditure planning and analysis, and support continuous improvement initiatives and operational efficiencies. Team leadership and development are also crucial, as the Controller will lead and mentor the plant accounting team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development while ensuring effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in manufacturing processes and systems.
  • Ability to generate and interpret reports for financial data analysis.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Accounting Functions including financial reporting, cash flow management, and financial forecasting.
  • Experience overseeing Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR).
  • Knowledge and experience in Auditing processes and compliance.
  • Familiarity with Budget Processes, planning, and execution in a manufacturing setting.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
