About the position

Fagen Friedman & Fulfrost LLP is seeking a dedicated and experienced Controller to oversee all accounting operations within the firm. This role is crucial for maintaining the financial health of the organization, ensuring compliance with regulations, and driving continuous improvement in financial processes. The Controller will collaborate closely with attorneys, staff, and senior administration to support the firm's strategic goals while safeguarding its assets.

Responsibilities

• Actively manage the daily accounting operations including billing, financial statements, accounts payable/receivable, budgeting, and tax compliance.
• Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and oversee revenue recognition processes.
• Ensure timely preparation of financial statements and compliance with tax regulations.
• Establish and enforce internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure proper accounting.
• Conduct financial analyses to support business decisions and approve Firm-related purchases and expenses.
• Provide guidance to staff and handle escalated issues.
• Play a key role in decision-making by providing financial insights and recommendations to senior management.

Requirements

• Proven experience in managing accounting operations with strong leadership skills.
• Excellent organizational and analytical skills with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
• Proficiency in accounting software and strong communication skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or CMA preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory roles, preferably in a legal or professional services firm.
