About the position

Busch Vacuum Solutions is a leading manufacturer of vacuum pumps, compressors, and blowers for various industries, including semiconductor manufacturing, food processing, metallurgy, biomedical, and material handling. We are currently seeking an experienced Controller for our manufacturing plant located in Virginia Beach, Virginia. This position is crucial as it oversees the organization's financial affairs, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and accounting policies related to a for-profit organization. The Controller will provide management with the financial information necessary to make informed business decisions. As the Controller, you will manage planning and compliance with all federal, state, and local corporate, payroll, and other applicable requirements. You will analyze company financial statements monthly, including comparative balance sheets, income statements, departmental expense schedules, and gross profits, ensuring adherence to company guidelines. Additionally, you will coordinate and direct budget preparation and financial forecasts, prepare budgets requiring accounting input, and assemble and analyze data for management and owners. Your role will also involve reviewing and providing financial inputs for manufacturing variances, product cost savings, and overall manufacturing efficiencies. You will oversee treasury management offerings from financial institutions, create custom financial reports, analyze results of standard cost roll-ups, and participate in cost-focused activities and cost reduction projects. Furthermore, you will sign company checks up to a specified dollar amount, coordinate activities with external auditors, and promote safety awareness within the workplace. Compliance with all safety policies and procedures is essential, and you will be responsible for reporting any unsafe activities or concerns to the General Manager, safety officer, or human resources.

Responsibilities

  • Manages planning and compliance with all federal, state, and local corporate, payroll, and other applicable requirements.
  • Analyzes company financial statements each month, including a comparative balance sheet, income statement, departmental expense schedules, gross profits, and additional statements in accordance with the company guidelines.
  • Coordinates and directs the budget preparation and financial forecasts to include historical data and current year actual figures.
  • Prepares the budget for those accounts requiring accounting input.
  • Assembles and analyzes data for Management and Owners, such as manufacturing meeting work papers and statistical reports.
  • Reviews, analyses, and provides financial inputs for manufacturing variances, product cost savings, freight cost and overall manufacturing efficiencies.
  • Provides other departments with related information necessary to carry out their responsibilities and allows for proper financial inventory accountability, assuring those departmental procedures do not conflict with the needs of other departments.
  • Oversees treasury management offerings from financial institutions for Busch companies, including software, online access, foreign/domestic trades, etc.
  • Creates custom financial reports using third-party report writers and assists other users with the same report writers (ex. ECQ, BMIS).
  • Analyzes results of standard cost roll-ups, productions, and sales-related transactions.
  • Participates, organizes, or leads cost-focused activities and cost reduction projects at the company level.
  • Signs company checks up to a specified dollar amount.
  • Coordinates activities with external auditors.
  • Promotes safety awareness and provides a safe work environment.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of any combination of public or private accounting experience in a manufacturing company.
  • 3+ years of FP&A experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing facility.
  • 5+ years of supervisory experience (preferred).
  • Bachelor's Degree (four-year college or technical school) in Business Administration or Accounting (required).
  • Advanced Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) skills (required).
  • SAP ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) experience (required).
  • CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CMA (Certified Management Accountant) certification (preferred).
  • Valid Driver's License (must be maintained throughout employment that meets Busch insurance standards).
