About the position

The Corporate Controller (Controller) at East Coast Facilities, Inc. is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing budget management, financial analysis, forecasting, and financial reporting. This position requires a close collaboration with the Director of Operations to establish both annual and live budgets, monitor financial performance, and drive results across the organization. The Controller is accountable for the financial planning and monitoring of assigned divisions, acting as a finance expert who works closely with Executive Management. Reporting directly to the Director of Home Office, the Controller plays a crucial role in ensuring the financial health of the company. In this role, the Controller will assist in building annual and live budgets for various operating units, including Service Centers and associated Satellites. Coordination with other finance team members, such as Accounts Receivable (AR), Accounts Payable (AP) Clerks, and the Home Office Manager, is essential to ensure timely posting of all financial entries. The Controller will also participate in the development and support of the company's strategic plans, monitor the financial performance of assigned operating units, and compile and analyze financial reporting packages. The Controller is responsible for developing and managing financial controls in accordance with company procedures, monitoring and implementing current accounting policies, and protecting company assets by establishing and enforcing internal controls. This role requires the ability to communicate financial metrics to senior management through structured management reports and to create special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. Compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements is also a critical aspect of this position, along with maintaining confidentiality of financial information and plans. The Controller contributes to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed and supports various clerks and managers within the finance team. This position demands strong analytical and organizational skills, proficiency in financial software, and the ability to work with cloud-based technology, including experience with Sage Intacct or similar systems. The Controller must also be self-motivated, possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, and be willing to travel to company-owned branch facilities as required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with building annual and live budgets for assigned operating units (Service Centers and any associated Satellites).
  • Coordinate with other finance team members such as AR, AP Clerks, and the Home Office Manager to ensure all entries have been booked for timely posting.
  • Participate in the development of and support the company's strategic plans.
  • Monitor the financial performance of assigned operating units.
  • Compile and analyze financial reporting packages for assigned operating units.
  • Develop and manage financial controls in accordance with the company's procedures.
  • Monitor and implement current company accounting policies and procedures.
  • Protect assets by establishing, monitoring, and implementing internal controls.
  • Provide status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data.
  • Communicate financial metrics to senior management with structured management reports.
  • Create special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements.
  • Protect operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related discipline.
  • Accounting designation (CMA, CGA or CA), or an equivalent combination of related experience and education.
  • Minimum 7 years accounting experience in a senior accounting or financial management role with at least 5 years of experience in human resources.
  • Proficiency in cloud-based technology, including experience with Sage Intacct or similar.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Impeccable analytical and organizational skills.
  • Self-motivated and self-directed.
  • Ability to work closely with a senior management team.
  • Valid driver's license and driving record that meets underwriting standards.
