Dogwood Industries is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Controller to lead our high-performing Finance team. The Controller will be responsible for overseeing and streamlining all aspects of financial management, including accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to provide strategic financial guidance to Ownership. In addition to managing day-to-day financial operations, the Controller will provide mentorship and guidance to the accounting team. The Controller will be responsible for all aspects of the company's financial management, including accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting. This includes developing and implementing corporate cash management policies and procedures to optimize cash flow and minimize borrowing costs. The Controller will evaluate strategic investment opportunities and recommend strategies to maximize returns while mitigating risk in accordance with Dogwood's risk tolerance level. Collaboration with the Senior Accountant to prepare and present cash flow projections, investment performance reports, and other financial analyses to Ownership for strategic planning is also a key responsibility. The role involves overseeing the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial statements, and managing the annual budgeting process while providing variance analysis to track performance against budgeted targets. The Controller will oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and other accounting functions to ensure accuracy and efficiency. Analyzing financial data and trends to provide insights and recommendations for improving financial performance and operational efficiency is crucial. Additionally, the Controller will develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard Dogwood assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, while staying abreast of changes in accounting standards, regulations, and industry trends. The Controller will also collaborate with the Senior Accountant and department leaders to develop and monitor departmental budgets and forecasts, providing guidance, coaching, and mentoring to members of the accounting team, fostering their professional development and growth. Other duties and responsibilities may be required as needed.
