About the position

The Controller / Revenue Manager at Community Crossroads is responsible for overseeing the accounting operations of the organization, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls. This role involves managing the accounting team and supporting the CFO/Director of Finance in maintaining the fiscal health of the organization. The ideal candidate will play a key role in budget management, financial analysis, audits, and policy development, enabling the organization to fulfill its mission with financial integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage all general ledger activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assets.
  • Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual closings.
  • Oversee reconciliation of balance sheet accounts and maintain the integrity of financial data.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements and budget variance reports for review by the CFO/Director of Finance.
  • Support the preparation of financial presentations for the CEO and Board.
  • Provide insights into financial performance and recommend process improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulatory laws for financial reporting.
  • Lead the annual audit process, liaising with external auditors and preparing necessary documentation.
  • Coordinate compliance and reporting for government grants, contracts, and restricted funds.
  • Collaborate with the CFO/Director of Finance and department heads in the annual budgeting process.
  • Monitor budget adherence and assist in developing financial projections and forecasts.
  • Support budget reallocation and adjustments as required by organizational needs.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain internal control procedures to ensure effective financial management.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop the accounting team, providing guidance and fostering a collaborative work environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (Master's degree or CPA preferred).
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, including 2-3 years in a supervisory role.
  • Nonprofit accounting experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and advanced MS Excel skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with staff at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills with high attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a nonprofit setting is preferred.
  • Experience in an Area Agency OR managing Medicaid / Government Funding is a plus but not required.
