About the position

Patrick Industries is seeking an experienced Controller to join our dynamic team in Elkhart, Indiana. This full-time position is pivotal in overseeing and coordinating all accounting, financial reporting, financial management, business management, and budgeting efforts related to our expanding portfolio of business units. The Controller will work closely with senior leadership and will have a significant impact on strategic business decisions through financial data analysis and reporting. In this role, the Controller will guide financial decisions for the business unit by establishing, monitoring, and applying policies, procedures, and internal controls. The position requires conducting audits to confirm the financial condition of the company and providing necessary information to external auditors. The Controller will also be responsible for preparing budgets, analyzing financial data, and recommending plans to business unit leaders to achieve budget objectives. This includes managing the production of annual budgets and forecasts, calculating variances, and reporting significant issues to management. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, with a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in a major company or division of a large corporation. A CPA license is preferred, along with at least 2 years of experience in public accounting. Experience in manufacturing is highly desired, as is a general understanding of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. The Controller will need to demonstrate excellent communication skills, strong analytical abilities, and a high level of personal integrity. Responsibilities

  • Guide Business Unit financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and applying policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Monitor and confirm financial condition by conducting audits and providing information to external auditors.
  • Prepare budgets by establishing schedules; collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data and recommending plans to Business Unit Leaders.
  • Achieve budget objectives by scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
  • Provide status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data.
  • Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
  • Manage monthly financial reporting and maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Maintain the chart of accounts and issue timely and complete financial statements.
  • Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations.
  • Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics.
  • Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts, calculating variances from the budget and reporting significant issues to management.
  • Support compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
  • Assist with the information utilized in filing of quarterly and annual reports with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 5+ years of progressively responsible experience for a major company or division of a large corporation.
  • Minimum of 2 years in public accounting is desired.
  • CPA preferred.
  • Experience in manufacturing is highly desired.
  • General understanding of Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
