As the Controller at Prescott's, Inc, you will be instrumental in the financial management and overall success of our organization. This role encompasses overseeing all financial operations, which includes budgeting, financial planning and analysis, financial reporting, and risk management. You will collaborate closely with the executive team to drive strategic financial decisions and provide insights that support the company's growth and profitability objectives. Your expertise will be vital in developing and implementing financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, as well as preparing financial statements and analyses on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. In this position, you will also coordinate the preparation of tax returns, maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures, and oversee the production of periodic financial reports. You will ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) or international financial reporting standards (IFRS). Additionally, you will recommend benchmarks for measuring the company's performance, produce the annual budget and forecasts, and provide financial analysis with a focus on capital investments. Working with external auditors and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements will also be part of your responsibilities. You will oversee the operations of the Accounting department, which includes accounts payable, accounts receivable, and treasury management.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of financial operations, including budgeting, financial planning and analysis, and financial reporting.
  • Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare financial statements and analysis, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
  • Coordinate and oversee the preparation of tax returns and ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations.
  • Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implement a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.
  • Oversee the production of periodic financial reports; ensure that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards.
  • Recommend benchmarks that will be used to measure the company's performance.
  • Produce the annual budget and forecasts; report significant budget differences to management.
  • Provide financial analysis, with emphasis on capital investments.
  • Work with external auditors and provide needed information for the annual audit.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
  • Perform other related duties as necessary or assigned.
  • Oversee the operations of the Accounting department, which includes accounts payable, accounts receivable, and treasury management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required; or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • CPA certification preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in financial management roles.
  • Strong knowledge of financial accounting principles and practices.
  • Proven experience in financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in financial software and systems, with the ability to adapt and learn new systems.
  • Expert in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex financial information to stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
