About the position

The Controller position at a medical device manufacturing company is a critical role focused on ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with regulatory standards. The Controller will oversee the month-end closing process, lead automation initiatives, and maintain internal controls, all while serving as a liaison to external auditors. This long-term contract role offers the opportunity to contribute to an organization dedicated to advancing surgical technology and improving healthcare standards.

Responsibilities

• Oversee month-end closing and reporting process including consolidation, review, and preparation of financial statements
• Lead automation and process improvement initiatives to reduce time to close, error rate, and increase scalability
• Establish and maintain internal controls and procedures that comply with US GAAP and other accounting standards
• Own intercompany transfer pricing process
• Serve as a liaison to external auditors
• Effectively prepare reporting packages for board meeting decks
• Research accounting issues for compliance with generally accepted accounting principles
• Analyze and report cost variances

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in technical accounting roles, including working in major accounting firms
• Understanding of GAAP and firm accounting policies and procedures
• Proficient in consolidating financial statements for globally dispersed entities
• Experience in SOX control execution/documentation
• Bachelor's degree in accounting
• CPA
• Experience implementing ERP systems
• Previous experience in a manufacturing environment
• International accounting experience
• Strong auditing background
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills
