About the position

The Controller will oversee the daily operations of the Accounting team at SmartSights, ensuring efficient systems and robust processes are in place while managing a team of professionals. This role is crucial for maintaining the company's financial health and operational excellence, particularly in a high-growth SaaS environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Accounting team, managing a group of 4-5 professionals.
• Ensure the seamless execution of daily operational tasks within the Accounting department.
• Develop, implement, and maintain efficient systems and processes to support the company's activities.
• Oversee the timely preparation and accuracy of monthly financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
• Lead the annual audit process, liaising with external auditors to ensure compliance and accuracy of financial data.
• Manage the company's commercial insurance policies and tax filings, including coordination with HR for payroll tax compliance and external advisors for corporate tax matters.
• Support FP&A in providing monthly statements as needed.
• Enhance and document internal business processes and accounting policies to strengthen internal controls.
• Mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
• Prepare and manage banking compliance materials as required.

Requirements

• CPA and/or public accounting certification.
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience managing a team, preferably in a high-growth SaaS software environment.
• Proven experience in financial management and accounting within the technology or software industry, with knowledge of U.S. GAAP and software revenue recognition policies.
• Strong leadership with experience managing small and mid-sized teams.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to develop and streamline financial policies and processes.
• Comprehensive knowledge of accounting regulations and practices.
• Prior experience with NetSuite ERP.
