About the position

The Controller at Martinic Engineering Inc. is a pivotal role responsible for leading the Finance organization at the Tolleson, AZ location. Reporting directly to the Monogram Controller, this position encompasses a wide range of financial responsibilities that are crucial for the operational success of the site. The Controller will oversee the monthly financial closing processes, manage forecasts, and lead the annual budget processes, ensuring that all financial activities align with the company's strategic goals. A key aspect of this role is ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements. The Controller will coordinate with auditors to maintain site-wide compliance and will be responsible for the integrity of all monthly, quarterly, and annual government returns. This position also requires the Controller to provide insightful financial information to the Director of Operations and the wider management team, facilitating informed decision-making across the organization. In addition to these responsibilities, the Controller will prepare a monthly business review reporting package and will have line management responsibility for the Staff Accountant. The successful integration and maintenance of Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) processes will also fall under the Controller's purview. The role demands a proactive approach, with the Controller expected to be visible around the business, supporting and guiding other departments as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Ownership of the monthly financial closing, forecast and annual budget processes.
  • Ensure site-wide compliance with GAAP and SOX requirements, and coordinate with auditors.
  • Responsible for integrity of monthly, quarterly and annual government returns.
  • Provide insightful financial information to the Director of Operations and wider management team to support decision making.
  • Preparation of monthly business review reporting package.
  • Line manager responsibility for the Staff Accountant.
  • Successful integration and maintenance of AP and AR with d Services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent certification in an accounting or finance discipline.
  • Solid, demonstrable understanding of finance and accounting principles.
  • 8 years in a finance/accounting manufacturing environment, of which a minimum of 3 in manufacturing, with demonstrable progression.
  • Intermediate-level Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Solid understanding of ERP and standard costing systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Leadership position experience in a finance/accounting manufacturing environment.
  • A background in aerospace, automotive or a similar metal-forming industry.
  • Conversant with Power BI or similar tools to aid financial/operational reporting.
