About the position

The Controller at Binding Minds, LLP will play a crucial role in the management of the Leola, Arkansas sawmill, providing analytical support for financial decisions. This position involves supervising office staff, overseeing financial reporting, managing the month-end close process, and ensuring compliance with internal controls and SOX regulations. The Controller will also be responsible for budget preparation, forecasting, and inventory analysis, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the plant's financial operations.

Responsibilities

• Learn and develop a strong understanding of the various aspects of the mill to provide insight into areas of improvement and accounting processes.
• Support the timely and accurate reporting of financial, operational, and statistical data.
• Develop and maintain reporting of financial and non-financial key performance indicators.
• Support company's accounting activities including accounts payable, payroll, and financial reporting.
• Manage month-end close process and reporting, general ledger reconciliations, account analyses, etc.
• Maintain adequate internal controls to ensure compliance with company policies and SOX.
• Weekly cost reporting and forecasting.
• Inventory control and analysis.
• Ad-hoc assignments from mill management or other projects as assigned.
• Plan, organize, coordinate, and control main office.

Requirements

• A 4-year degree in business, accounting, or finance
• Related work experience of 3 to 5 years, preferably in manufacturing
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and a working knowledge of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
• Experience with SOX
• Supervisory experience
• Oracle financial system experience
• Innate sense of integrity and ethics
• Highly motivated and a self-starter with the initiative to learn and grow
• Ability to handle pressure well
• Flexible and able to adjust to changing workloads and tasks
