About the position

The Controller is responsible for leading and supervising the Finance Department, ensuring effective management of accounting, budgeting, payroll, accounts payable, and charge capture functions. This role is crucial for developing and implementing financial processes that align with the organization's goals while adhering to GAAP and maintaining strong internal controls. The Controller will also engage with various stakeholders, including the Board of Trustees and Senior Management, to present financial information and lead discussions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and supervision for the Finance Department.
  • Oversee accounting, budgeting, payroll, accounts payable, and charge capture functions.
  • Develop, review, and implement financial processes in alignment with organizational goals.
  • Ensure adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Maintain robust internal controls within the Finance Department.
  • Perform technical functions within the department as needed.
  • Attend mandatory in-services, trainings, and departmental meetings.
  • Present information and lead discussions with groups such as the Board of Trustees and Senior Management.
  • Ensure confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science/Arts Degree in Business with an emphasis or concentration in Accounting.
  • Proficiency in keyboarding and software applications, including Outlook, Internet Explorer, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles, including GAAP.
  • Familiarity with inter-related IT systems, including general ledger, payroll, and accounts payable.
  • General understanding of hospital and clinic billing and accounts receivable systems.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in a senior-level accountant or financial analyst role.
  • Strong skills in financial statement preparation and demonstrated leadership abilities.

  • CPA certification preferred.
