The Controller will play a key role in the development of the accounting and finance function and be instrumental in optimizing and maintaining the recently implemented ERP system (NetSuite) and potentially upgrading the WMS. The Controller will manage the period-end GL close and reporting cycles of domestic and international entities, providing monthly financial reports to the Executive Leadership Team (ELT). Responsibilities also include preparing OPEX, CAPEX, and forecasts by department while monitoring and reporting EBITDA. The Controller will oversee the outside accounting firm, in-house accountants, and payroll processing, leading the development and implementation of financial controls in preparation for the first GAAP audit. Additionally, this role will involve collaborating with the IT Department to optimize the ERP system and coordinate workflows with other departments, managing tax planning with outside accounting firms, implementing inventory audits, and overseeing cost management for domestic and international 3PLs. The Controller will also administer domestic and international insurance policies and maintain expertise in applicable accounting principles to ensure compliance with new accounting guidance.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the period-end GL close and reporting cycles of domestic and international entities.
  • Provide monthly financial reports to the Executive Leadership Team (ELT).
  • Prepare OPEX, CAPEX, and forecasts by department; monitor and report EBITDA.
  • Oversee the outside accounting firm, in-house accountants, and payroll processing.
  • Lead the development and implementation of financial controls in preparation for the first GAAP audit.
  • Work closely with the IT Department to optimize the ERP system and coordinate workflows with other departments.

  • Implement and manage inventory audits and process improvements; oversee cost management for domestic and international 3PLs.
  • Administer domestic and international insurance policies.
  • Maintain expertise in applicable accounting principles and ensure new accounting guidance is appropriately implemented.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; CPA preferred (active or inactive).
  • Minimum 5 years of corporate accounting experience, with experience in high growth and high-volume eCommerce businesses.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred), eCommerce platforms (Shopify preferred), and MS Office Suite (Excel expertise required).
  • Deep understanding of GAAP, tax code, and relevant compliance procedures.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities and attention to detail.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate team members; proactive in identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Ability to interface professionally with all levels of management.
  • Capable of handling multiple tasks and priorities in a result-driven environment.
  • Self-disciplined with a proactive attitude in taking ownership of tasks and leading efforts in challenging situations.
