About the position

The Analyst, Controllership plays a crucial role in the Accounting department by preparing timely and accurate Balance Sheet reconciliations and journal entries, completing expense and Balance Sheet analysis associated with the month-end close process. This position supports the CFO with Bread Financial initiatives and ensures the accuracy of general ledger accounts, management reporting, and ad hoc analysis. The Analyst is responsible for planning, executing, and reporting on niche accounting subject areas, working collaboratively with other departments to resolve discrepancies and improve processes.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly account reconciliations for various Balance Sheet accounts with supporting documentation.
  • Prepare recurring and ad hoc journal entries for General Ledger accounts, ensuring proper documentation.
  • Collect and compile financial information to assist in preparing accurate financial reports and statements for senior management.
  • Complete monthly analysis of Income Statement and Balance Sheet accounts, explaining variance fluctuations.
  • Provide supporting documentation to internal/external auditors for various audits throughout the year.
  • Analyze complex reconciliations and create detailed financial models based on ad hoc initiatives.
  • Communicate effectively with management and internal customers regarding account activity and issue resolution.
  • Apply basic project management skills to initiatives, including gathering requirements and documenting decisions.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required; Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business preferred.
  • Two or more years of experience in Accounting, journal entries, and account reconciliations required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams required.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft and Blackline preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Three or more years of experience in Accounting, journal entries, account reconciliations, analysis, and reporting.
