About the position

T&M Associates is seeking a highly motivated Controls / Automation Engineer to join their Electrical & Automation team. This role involves leading the execution of controls projects, including designing controls architecture, programming PLCs, SCADA, and HMIs, and commissioning processes. The position requires strong client interface skills and offers a hybrid work arrangement, combining remote work with in-office collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support controls and communications designs for large municipal water and wastewater projects.
• Design and specify control panel power distribution, communications systems, grounding, and control architecture for PLC-based control systems.
• Support the proposal process by developing Bill of Materials and coordinating with subcontractors, material suppliers, and panel builders.
• Perform PLC, SCADA, and HMI programming and screen development using various hardware/software providers.
• Commission and start up systems and provide training for operators.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Associates degree in Electrical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering required.
• Licensed as a Professional Engineer in New Jersey, with the ability to be licensed in multiple states.
• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of automation/electrical engineering and design, familiar with applicable codes and standards.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to prepare written specifications and contract documents.
• 6-15 years of related work experience in industrial design and/or water/wastewater control systems.
• Self-motivated, focused, and dedicated to leading a team to deliver solutions.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with large municipal projects.
• Familiarity with various hardware/software providers for programming.
