The Controls/Electrical Engineer position is a critical role within an expanding chemical client, focusing on the development, implementation, and maintenance of automation and control systems at the plant site. This includes working with various electrical components, PLCs, DCS, pneumatic circuits, and networking, all integral to automated chemical processes. The engineer will ensure that all control systems comply with regulatory requirements, including SIL/LOPA assessments, which are essential for maintaining safety and operational integrity in chemical manufacturing environments. In addition to system development, the engineer will be responsible for maintaining and creating instrument and electrical drawings for control systems, which include motor elementaries and instrument loop sheets. This role also involves assisting the maintenance team with assigned work, breakdowns, and emergency work orders, ensuring that the plant operates smoothly and efficiently. The engineer will maintain PLC documentation received from equipment suppliers and archive PLC programs and machine control drawings, which are vital for future reference and troubleshooting. Training and mentoring technicians and technical staff on control system strategies and installations will be a key part of this role, fostering a knowledgeable and skilled workforce. Furthermore, the engineer will participate in the development and maintenance of IT systems and infrastructure, collaborating with both internal teams and external vendors to ensure robust and secure operations.
